Check Out Biscuet
While catching up on reading LostLaowai I clicked on the personal blog of LL contributor Biscuet. And I became hooked on it instantly. Biscuet is an English teacher working and living in Beijing. But he avoids all the boring pitfalls that many English-Teacher blogs do. He just has a genuine joy for life and discovering life in China which brings me back to my early days in China (those long five years ago) while at the same time teaching me about an expat’s life in Beijing.

An Amazing Polymath
Monday marked the end of the project which has been taking up much of my work and personal life for the last couple of weeks. I haven’t been blogging since them I’ve been spending a lot of time just reading other people’s blogs. One that I am really enjoying is Peijin Chen’s A Shameful Waste of Madhouse Time.
This guy is a complete polymath. He reads a ton of things in both English and Chinese and give his opinions on this multiple times each day. Every post is short and to the point and definitely not a waste of time to read.
Check it out!

A Little Sunday Evening Reading
Work has been keeping me pretty busy this week so I haven’t had the energy to post — what energy I did have left over from the week I spent at a friend’s birthday party on Friday evening. I’ve spent most of the weekend escaping with Criminal Minds DVDs and the new The Honeys album ? as well as spending time with Roger and Winnie. Therefore until I do come up with something better to blog about, I’m leaving you with the archive of my posts from Lost Laowai.
Enjoy

Covering China’s Fashion Scene
I just finished Ian Kelly’s excellent Beau Brummell: The Ultimate Dandy. That got me thinking about the fashion scene in China and then about two great blogs that cover that scene.
- Shopgirl’s Shanghai Lifestyle Blog: Written by a 20-year-old Swedish-Shanghainese girl who spends a good amount of time in Shanghai. It does a great job of covering the scene as well as what life is like for a 20-year-old in university.
- Stylites in Beijing: Excellent coverage of the men’s and women’s fashion scene in Beijing by an American, who is a consultant by day and blogger by night.
Both are my current guilty pleasures.

Head of ChinesePod Has A Blog
Ken Carroll, the guy who started the language-learning-by-Podcast trend with his ChinesePod venture has a new blog. It seems to have started fairly recently as its only three posts long, but it’s really good reading so far — particularly his piece criticizing a recent Economist article on people worldwide learning Mandarin.
